When King Taps opened its Langley location, they wanted an audio system that could match the elevated experience of their restaurant and bar. High-energy music, clear announcements, and even coverage throughout the venue were all essential—but so was a clean, efficient installation. That’s where Sapphire stepped in, using advanced modeling and premium equipment to deliver a superior sound system with fewer speakers and better performance.
The Challenge: Maximizing Performance with Fewer Speakers.
Traditional 70V distributed audio systems are common in restaurants and bars, but they often require a large number of speakers to achieve even sound coverage. For King Taps, the initial design using 70V speakers required between 52 and 70 speakers to properly cover the space. While functional, this approach meant more equipment, more installation hours, and a cluttered ceiling aesthetic.
Sapphire explored a smarter solution, comparing a traditional 70V setup to a premium d&b audiotechnik system using advanced acoustic modeling tools like EASE and ArrayCalc. The results were clear: by switching to d&b, we could achieve the same (or better) coverage and SPL with just 25 speakers—less than half of the original estimate.
The Solution: d&b Audiotechnik and a Seamless AV Backbone.
By choosing d&b audiotechnik, King Taps not only reduced the number of speakers but also gained a higher quality sound system with improved clarity, coverage, and SPL (sound pressure level), making it an easy choice for a premium experience with long-term value. To complement the high-performance d&b system, Sonance 70V speakers were installed in washrooms, hallways, and entryways—areas where premium audio wasn’t as critical but still needed even, reliable coverage. The entire system runs on a Q-SYS backbone, allowing effortless control of audio zones via an intuitive iPad interface.
For video distribution, WyreStorm’s AV-over-IP solution was implemented, ensuring seamless content delivery to every TV in the venue. Whether it’s sports, live events, or digital signage, King Taps can easily manage their video system with high reliability and low latency.
The Result: A Smarter, More Efficient Audio-Visual System.
By choosing a d&b audiotechnik solution over a traditional 70V setup, King Taps Langley achieved a cleaner, more efficient installation with fewer speakers and better sound quality. The system not only provides an immersive audio experience but also minimizes ceiling clutter and installation time. With Q-SYS control and WyreStorm’s video-over-IP, managing audio and video throughout the space is seamless and intuitive.
For King Taps, the result is a premium, high-performance AV system that enhances the guest experience—without unnecessary complexity or cost.
