PCL Construction's North American Headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta, faced critical challenges with their large meeting hall. This multi-purpose space, essential for everything from team meetings to corporate galas, suffered from poor audio coverage, excessive reflective surfaces, and natural light interference that diminished the quality of visual presentations. Furthermore, the room’s lack of flexibility for larger events and an outdated user interface made it difficult to operate. To resolve these issues, PCL Construction partnered with Sapphire to implement a comprehensive audiovisual solution.
The meeting hall at PCL Construction's Edmonton headquarters was in dire need of an AV upgrade to enhance functionality and improve user experience. Key issues included poor audio coverage exacerbated by reflective surfaces, natural light from large windows washing out the existing screen, and a lack of flexibility for hosting larger events. Additionally, the existing system was unreliable and had an unintuitive user interface, further complicating operations. PCL Construction required a cutting-edge system that could seamlessly transition between daily meetings and large-scale corporate events.
Sapphire took a methodical approach to address PCL Construction's needs. They began with a thorough needs assessment, identifying daily usage requirements and advanced features necessary for hosting parties and fundraising events. Sapphire then explored various LED video wall options and facilitated tours of similar facilities to ensure PCL Construction understood their options. This comprehensive evaluation ensured that the final solution would be perfectly tailored to the client's needs.
Sapphire implemented a 19 ft x 10.5 ft Absen NX 1.5mm LED video wall, delivering a flawless 16:9 aspect ratio, true 4K resolution, and exceptional viewing angles that effectively countered the ambient light from large windows. For superior audio quality, Sapphire integrated a pair of d&b audiotechnik Vi7P speakers for focused, full-range sound, supported by seven d&b audiotechnik 44s speakers for consistent audio coverage across auxiliary spaces. The system was seamlessly integrated with a Q-SYS control platform, allowing users to connect cameras and microphones for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) meetings. Additionally, a Crestron/Microsoft Teams interface made it simple to start meetings without requiring complex setup or additional equipment.
The result is a highly versatile, user-friendly AV system that flawlessly supports both routine meetings and large-scale events. The breathtaking LED video wall elevates visual presentations even in bright ambient light, while the premium audio system ensures clear, consistent sound throughout the room. PCL Construction now enjoys a state-of-the-art meeting hall that is easy to operate and flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of functions, from daily team discussions to high-profile corporate galas.
Sapphire’s innovative AV solution for PCL Construction’s headquarters highlights their expertise in transforming complex meeting spaces into highly functional and aesthetically pleasing environments. By addressing key audio and visual challenges and simplifying the user interface, Sapphire has significantly enhanced the productivity and overall event experience in PCL Construction's meeting hall. This project exemplifies the crucial role of tailored AV solutions in fulfilling the diverse needs of modern corporate spaces.
