Youthlink Calgary Police Interpretive Centre embarked on an ambitious project to expand its educational offerings with a fully modular exhibit space. This initiative aimed to showcase police history and artifacts, providing visitors with immersive experiences that spanned various time periods. The challenge was to design a compact yet versatile space capable of hosting projected images and accommodating rotating exhibits. Sapphire was honoured to assist in guiding the project from conception to completion, ensuring a seamless integration of technology and content.
Youthlink needed to create a dynamic exhibit space that could adapt to changing themes and displays while remaining user-friendly for staff. The space needed to be fully modular to accommodate rotating exhibits and flexible enough to host small events. Additionally, the design had to be cost-effective without compromising on quality or functionality.
Sapphire offered cost-effective alternatives and provided invaluable guidance throughout the project's development. From assisting with contractor meetings to advising on projection services and screen selection, Sapphire worked closely with the team at Youthlink to ensure the final solution met the center's needs and budget constraints. Sapphire's expertise in audiovisual technology, coupled with proactive project management, was pivotal in guiding the project through to successful completion.
The innovative solutions implemented by Sapphire featured a dozen short-throw Epson projectors suspended from a custom supplied pipe grid, utilizing Visionary solutions AVoIP for video distribution. Four zones of audio, facilitated by Martin Audio pendant speakers suspended from the pipe grid, provide ambient music and effects. Q-Sys control brings everything together in a user-friendly touch panel interface, allowing staff to easily manage and adjust the setup as needed. With all components suspended from the grid and out of the way, the space offers maximum flexibility for creative control and exhibit customization. These cutting-edge technologies contributed to the success of the exhibit, delivering exceptional performance and reliability throughout its operation.
The Rogue's Gallery, the inaugural exhibit in the newly expanded space, was successfully unveiled on time, showcasing the intriguing history of Calgary's police force. Through collaborative project management and meticulous attention to detail, Sapphire, along with all project stakeholders, brought the vision to life. The exhibit offers visitors a captivating journey through Calgary's past, highlighting the city's unique law enforcement challenges and stories. The seamless integration of technology and content ensures an immersive and educational experience for all who visit.
